The 50 weight Mako cotton thread is the most popular and versatile thread. It is ideal for hand piecing and hand appliquĂ©, especially when using the needle turn method. It is also perfect for machine appliquĂ© when you want the fabric to be the feature rather than the thread - the thread looks like it "melts" into the fabric. Use straight, small zig zag, and blanket stitches, and for very detailed machine quilting with a lot of backtracking such as feathers and heavy background quilting . Perfect for quilting that creates texture when you donât necessarily want to see the quilting lines. Use an 80/12 Sharp/Microtex, denim or top stitching needle for best results.
